Formed in 2003, the Quatuor Beat offers a new vision of percussion ensemble and chamber music.
Gabriel Benlolo, Aurelien Carsalade, Laurent Fraiche and Jerome Guicherd, who have known each other since their studies at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Paris, are constantly on the lookout for new creations, transcriptions and rereadings, and have won prizes at international competitions such as “Gaetano Zinetti” in Verona and “Europeennes d’Alsace” in Illzach.
They perform in France and Europe, offering a “concert-show” in which the visual aspect of percussion is used to serve the music, with a touch of humor.
The Quatuor Beat’s aim is to demonstrate that a percussion quartet can combine precision, velocity and expressiveness…
*The Quatuor Beat is one of the most remarkable instrumental ensembles of its generation. The four exceptional virtuosos who make up the group are also complete musicians, open to all the aesthetics of contemporary creation, as this recording testifies. Their musical curiosity is matched only by the infinite potential of the instrumentarium they use. This is just the beginning of an extraordinary musical adventure. After the era of the Renaissance vocal quartet and the string quartet – from classicism to the 20th century – we enter with the Beat quartet into the exploration of a new sound world, that of the percussion quartet.”

Marc-Olivier Dupin, composer, director of France Musique
